Returns & Complaints Policy

How we handle transport damage and production errors — and what falls outside our responsibility.

§1. General

This policy applies to purchases of curated works from Szumski Art (Tomasz Szumski Consulting, Warsaw, NIP 5273186354), sold through szumski.art.

§2. Nature of each sale

Every piece sold is a unique, already-completed one-of-one (1/1) work. You see the exact piece — its composition, palette, and size — before you buy it. What you receive is what you saw.

We do not offer returns for change of mind after purchase. Once a piece is sold, it is yours.

§3. What is covered by a complaint

You may file a complaint only in the following cases:

  • the piece was damaged in transit,
  • a genuine production error occurred on our side (e.g. the wrong piece was sent),
  • the piece received does not match what was purchased.

Complaints do not cover:

  • colour differences arising from your monitor's display settings — what you see on screen is a digital rendering, not a colour-calibrated proof,
  • natural characteristics of the printing technology or canvas texture,
  • subjective aesthetic judgment about a piece you chose to purchase.
A different monitor showing slightly different colours is expected and is not a defect. If you're unsure how a piece will look in person, ask us for more reference photos before buying.

§4. How to file a complaint

Complaints must be submitted within 7 calendar days of receiving your order, by email, and should include:

  • your order or certificate reference number,
  • a description of the issue,
  • photo documentation, for damage or visible defects.

Complaints submitted after this period may be declined.

§5. How complaints are resolved

We respond within 14 calendar days of receiving your complaint. If accepted, we will, at our discretion:

  • reprint the piece from the same source file (this is a repair of a defective delivery, not a second sale — the piece remains the same 1/1 edition),
  • or refund the amount paid, in full or in part.

Refunds, where applicable, are made using the same payment method used for the original order, unless otherwise agreed.

§6. Transport damage

If your order arrives damaged, please photograph it immediately and report it within the timeframe in §4. Without photo documentation, we may not be able to process the complaint.

§7. Limitation of liability

Our liability for any accepted complaint is limited to the value of the order concerned.

§8. Questions

If you have a question about a specific order, get in touch before filing a formal complaint — most issues are easy to sort out directly.
